 Capital of Euboea is Chalcis. As Euboea and the mainland only be separated by a narrow strait, many Ancient Greek geographers consider it is a part of the continent. The island is about 180 km long and 6-65 km wide. About 3,654 square kilometers. The highest peak is Erfeisi about 1,742 meters above sea level. The earliest residents is Abantes. From 14th century,it be ruled by Venetian and Turks. In 1830 came back to Greece. 

        
History
The earliest inhabitants of the island is the Abantes,and they brought bronze culture from central Greece . 506BC Athenian encroached on Chalkis, and moved to Lelantine Plain. In 490 BC Persian king Darius Carystus triumphed over the Persian navy. Chalcis growing prosperity under Roman rule. Till 14th century, Venetian control the island. Invaded and occupied by the Turks in 1470. Until 1830 came back to Greece.

          
Mineral properties on the island
There are many ranch on This island. Mountains used to be the mined iron ore and copper which promote the development of the metal industry and export trade.Brown coal in Aliverion and Kimi are used for thermal power.Green and white color mica marble are exported in Karistos.And the valley produces grapes, olives, vegetables, fruits and grains.Components of the people are complex, south and southeast of multiAlbanian ethnic,while a small number of the Mathieu its people (Vlach) the reclusive Township.

The island is about 100 kilometers away from Athens Airport. And it is an island waiting for  developed. As it has convenient transportation,abundant resources, beautiful environment and  livable climate,it became popular among the Greece dignitaries for multihome. I have suggested that the Greek government to establish a tax-exempt, provide financial, investment, tourism and other services open on the island .In order to promote the economic development of Greece.
